March 05th, 2019
Great start for Team JET-Zanardo with the opening round of the Enduro Italian Championship, held in Gioia dei Marsi, Abruzzo, on 2nd-3rdMarch.
Back to Italy after one season in the States winning the Worcs Championship, Giacomo Redondi made his debut with the Husqvarna FE 450 scoring a double second position in the 450 4T class and a double seventh place in the Overall classification too. The 2016 Junior World Champion raced with a good pace and feeling, getting ten best time (on a total of 19 special tests). We should remember that Redondi will not race in the World Championship, as just in the Italian Championship and in some WESS competitions.
Positive race for the 2018 Youth World Champion Ruy Barbosa, who debuted with the Husqvarna FE 350. The young Chilean has completed a good race, even if on Saturday a marshal penalized him at the checkpoint because of a misunderstanding. Good debut for the English Joe Wootton with the Husqvarna FE 350: after the third position conquered last year in the Junior Championship, this season he will compete in E2 class.
Next race is the first World GP, scheduled on 22-23-24 March in Dahlen, Germany.
Giacomo Redondi #18
"Nice race, certainly more for the public than for the riders, because tough with technical special test and a hard terrain. I was fast and competitive in my class as well as in the overall. We worked very well throughout the weekend, with different set up that allowed me to get good times. I struggled a bit in the Extreme test, while in the Cross I was the fastest winning all the tests on Sunday. We are only at the beginning and there is a lot to do, but I have the right motivation to rule the season”.
Ruy Barbosa #14
“It hasn't been easy for me race on this terrain: I still have to find the right feeling with the bike. I struggled a bit in the Extreme test, so technical and not very fast. Now let’s go home to keep working to get to the World Championship in the best shape”.
Joe Wootton #32
“I’m satisfied with the weekend: I used the opportunity to test some technical solutions. At the beginning I didn’t get off good, but slowly I found the right pace improving my feeling. We will continue to work in order to be ready for the World Championship”.
Franco Mayr - Team Manager
“We are satisfied with the results. This year Barbosa changed the bike and after 3 years with the 125 now he will race with the Husqvarna FE 350. He is still getting the right feeling, but this weekend he was fast. Redondi gets back from the States in mid-February, finishing so close to his opponents despite the lack of preparation for this type of competition. Wootton exploited this race to perform several tests. At last, I’m happy David Knight decided to try our bikes, giving us important ideas. Now we are preparing for the World Championship ready to give our best”.
